Tama, The Feline Station Master

Tama, the calico cat, has her own large window office in Kinokawa City, Wakayama, Western Japan. It's one of the perks of working as station master at Kishi train station. She also gets a hat with a gold lining, a badge, and all she can eat. Apparently the job involves sitting around, posing for pictures and looking rather stern. It sounds like an excellent gig to me.

The company that runs the rail line reports that at least 20,000 tourists visit the small town annually. That traffic and sales of Tama-related merchandise has bumped up the local economy by a whopping 1.1 billion yen ($10.8 million). I think Tama should negotiate a more lucrative contract that includes mouse slaves, unlimited Whiskas Temptations and stronger catnip.
