Post Mortem Photography

In the Victorian era the invention of the daguerreotype made it more affordable for families to take post mortem photographs of their loved ones, especially children. These photographs served as keepsakes to remember the deceased.

  2. When my mother passed away her husband, who was Japanese, sent post mortem photos to the relatives. When everyone freaked out he explained that this is a custom in Japan but I can't find anything to support his explanation.
