Forever 15

Photographer Ilana Panich-Linsman was once an awkward 15-year-old in western Massachusetts.
As a student at the International Center of Photography, she decided to shadow and photograph teenage girls as they made the small decisions that began to define them as women.
Ms. Panich-Linsman, 25, zeroed in on the three girls, Hannah, Libby and Katie, who all lived in the neighborhood, went to public school and had attentive parents. She followed them intensively for 9 months.

Libby rested her head on a table at a pizza parlor in Brooklyn,
catching a few more minutes of sleep before school.

  1. Thank you so much for posting this.
I had never heard of this woman & her work.
I viewed the 'Fifteen' story, along with the others on her website...incredible.
What an amazing talent...I was completely drawn in...firstly by the subject matter in each...then completely captivated by her photographs.

  2. I remember feeling very uncomfortable in my own skin at 15. Looking at her work brought some of those feelings back.
