The World's Tallest Slum

In the early 1990s squatters took over Venezuela's Tower of David, an unfinished 45-story skyscraper in Caracas. When construction stopped because of the banking crisis the dream of this luxury building died.
Vocativ's video shows the daily lives of the people who live inside inside this monument to a failed banking system.


Amazingly residents pool money to keep essential services going in much the same way a condo board does. They also report that crime is no worse inside the building than elsewhere in the city.
