After seeing a couple of the first pick-up truck campers while working in Alaska, in 1955 my uncle and aunt drove from MA to CA to buy one. They found out the campers had to be ordered and it would take a month to have one built, which was out of the question. They did the tourist thing for a week, then checked back before heading home to find a couple had cancelled their order because she was pregnant. It was aluminum with green trim, but the interior was a hideous pink, green, and black. They bought it and spent many years explaining the embarrassing interior.
