The biggest expat regrets about moving to France

It has always been my dream to own a charming little maison particulière in France. Perhaps I should rethink that if I want to have friends, love, a career, property or Canadian cuisine (what, no poutine? C'est incroyable!). And did you know they mostly speak French and that I'd have to miss Canadian events? Just forget about it.

Thanks Bruce! You may have shattered my dream but saved me from making a large mistake :)

  1. I've lived in France for over 20 years now and don't regret a thing. My rule: don't behave like an expat - become a local. Best compliment I've ever had: when I bought my current (and rather unique) house my local builder who did some work on it told me "I'm glad you bought this place, not some foreigner".

  2. These folks didn't think before they moved. Did they not expect the French to speak French? As for missing the London Olympics, have they never heard of the Chunnel? Some of these regrets are pretty lame if you ask me.
