    These scenes look luxurious because they *were*. It cost a bundle to travel by air. You could have an equivalent experience if you were willing to pay for first class.

    You're right, airplanes were slower, noisier and much more expensive back then. We pay less today because we are crammed in like sardines. I'm only 5 feet tall and can barely stand it. However I've yet to see a roomy lounge in business class. I must be using the wrong airlines ;)
