Jesse and Laura are cooking one meal from every United Nations member country, in alphabetical order, as a dinner party and fundraiser for World Food Program USA. So far they have raised a total of $12,133.
Their Canadian meal included poutine (which I have never tasted and probably never will), tourtière, KD (really), maple baked beans, butter tarts and Caesars. A little Quebec centric but very Canadian.

Once in a discussion of national cuisines, I was asked to identify a Canadian one. All I could think of was doughnuts.
ReplyDeleteI know Canadians eat a scary amount of fried dough but didn't we appropriate doughnuts from our neighbours to the south?
ReplyDeleteLOL, just found your write-up of our page! Guilty as charged, I leaned a bit more into the Quebec part just since it seemed more different from American cuisine. With the benefit of several years of experience, I'd also add in a First Nations dish as well as something from the Atlantic Provinces (cod?). But I stand 100% by the KD!
