This cloud of food has no calories but it can satisfy the taste buds. (Ashley Burke/CBC) |
Is a smell as good as a taste?
Le Whaf, invented by French scientist and Harvard professor David Edwards, boils ingredients into a liquid, strains, then pours it into a glass cauldron. The liquid is turned into a cloud which is ingested through a straw. It is popular with dieters in Europe because inhaling the air can provide taste without calories.

Juniper Kitchen and Wine Bar in Ottawa's Westboro neighbourhood.
I'd have to be convinced.
