12 Weeks And Only The Kittens Kept Us Sane...

Fifty-six years ago three Canadians and two kittens crossed the Atlantic Ocean on a raft made of 9 telephone poles lashed together. After leaving Dartmouth, Nova Scotia they spent 88 days at sea before reaching Falmouth harbour, England.


The sailors became the toast of London. The kittens were given to the Duke of Bedford and lived the rest of their lives in luxury at his palace.
Alas their feat was largely ignored in Canada.


Today the main players in this adventure want a new condominium complex on the wharf in Nova Scotia to include a plaque to commemorate a sea voyage that made international headlines in 1956.
