If you don't have a Teasmade then you have to get out of bed to make your morning cuppa - like some sort of caveman! The concept is simple: Take a closed vessel, put a tube in it, boil water in the vessel, steam pressure pushes the water out via the tube and voila you have tea in the pot!
But it wasn't so simple in 1892 when Teasmade was first patented. Most homes did not have electricity and gas was used to heat the brew. Below are some pictures showing how the device developed over the years.

Thanks again Bruce!
Being the tea-loving person I am...I think these gadgets are simply wonderful!
ReplyDeleteWell, perhaps excepting the 'gas plate on the night table' version.
I would love to have one...but luckily I don't need one...I have my own 'teasmade'...hubby. :)
In the morning I need coffee desperately but always stumble out of bed, eyes half shut, to suck back my 3 cups.
