Astoundingly, for most of our history America’s nickname for Pit Bulls was “The Nanny Dog”. For generations if you had children and wanted to keep them safe you wanted a pit bull, the dog that was the most reliable of any breed with children or adults.

I love pits. We had two when my sister and I were babies, and they protected and watched us like their own pups.
ReplyDeleteThe owners of pit bulls are the real problem. They became a status symbol for people who should never be allowed to own pets and some of them became vicious as a result.
