Oh my, Ed Sullivan! I loved Topo Gigio. The musical acts on the show used to bore the s__t out of me as a child, but the novelty acts, now those were of interest. I remember being 3 or 4 years old when my parents, only 21 and 23 themselves, excitedly got me out of bed to come downstairs and see the Beatles appear for the first time on Ed Sullivan. Sadly, they were not dancing, singing beetle bugs and I was so disappointed ... and bored.
My mum was out the night the Beatles appeared on Ed Sullivan. My sisters and I watched them and screamed at the tv at the top of our lungs without knowing why.
I knew that first one looked familiar! But I always thought it was Popo, not Topo.
The Beatles on Ed Sullivan was a huge deal. I wasn't allowed to see it since it was on well past my bedtime, but I still remember hearing the screaming from the TV in my room.
I also remember the big debates I had with my friends over who was better, The Beatles or The Monkeys. I think I was favouring The Monkeys, since they had the waay better show on Saturday mornings. The Beatles cartoon was lame.
Brylcreem, a little dab'll do ya, Brylcreem, you'll look so debonair, Brylcreem, the gals'll all pursue ya, They love to run their fingers through your hair.
I never saw the fire escape slide. That would have been cool.

I also leaned toward the Monkeys because Davey Jones was so cute. I was too young to know better.

I don't remember the slide either although I do remember everything else.
