Sorry we can't make it...

In 1996 the Sex Pistols were invited to a gala event to celebrate the band's induction into Cleveland's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. This is John Lydon's RSVP:

What did the Hall of Fame expect? These guys were pitbulls, not toy poodles.
Letters of Note: The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a piss stain

  1. Nah, not pitbulls. ragged mongrels with delusions of rottweilerhood.

The sad fact about the sex pistols is that despite their denial they were, in fact, no less an artificial construct than the bands they railed against, they were Malcolm McLaren's dangerous, self destructive puppets.

    Johnny Rotten advertises butter.
He's gone over to the enemy. Anarchy is dead.

  2. It's fun to imagine what might have happened had they decided to attend.
(Do you suppose McLaren paid an illiterate 9 year old to write the note?)
