Mocking the Designer Water Trend

Here I go again. Yet another subject that gets me on my high horse. To the dismay of many people I drink tap water and think others should too. You know I mean it because I've nagged about it here, here, here, here, here, here and here.
I love it when I find someone who agrees with me.

  1. Have you seen this then? And this?

I have a new policy these days. Anyone carrying a bottle of water is not allowed to complain to me about the price of gasoline.

I also mock people who carry their own canteens to and from work, and I persecute unmercifully the idiots who brainlessly spread the dishonest canard that we have to drink "eight-to-some-random-number" glasses per day.

#&$^, people, do some research, eh?

Unless you live in Blue River (permanent boil order), Faulder (radium), or on a reservation, your water supply is probably superior to that in most of the world including the majority of western democracies.

    So DRINK IT.

  5. Um, I'm not sure if you've ever tried the tap water here in Savannah. It's awful.

My cat drinks bottled water. I'd bathe in it if I could afford to.

  6. I know that there are places, in the north and on native reserves for instance, where the water has sulfur in it or is contaminated and I wouldn't drink that. We pay a wicked environmental toll to drink from bottles which may themselves be contaminated. I feel lucky to live in a place where the water is drinkable but I wouldn't expect anyone to drink water that isn't potable.

Nag, I agree with you but I don't think I'd drink Mexican tap water.

  10. To clarify, I have to concur with the overall gist of this video and post.

I think there's a big difference between bottled spring water and "designer" water, which seems exceedingly silly to me.

I remember Robin Williams cracked a joke about buying a bottle of water for a dollar and everyone laughed their butts off. Funny how things change.

My father lives in Vermont and his tap water is better than any bottled water I can get here. If I lived there, I'd think it would be ridiculous to buy bottled water, too.

At least we can be thankful that we have decent water, tap or bottled, unlike some places in the world.

  11. Just make sure that what you're drinking is actually spring water. 2 out of 5 bottled waters are actually "purified" tap water.

My favourite is 'Evian' spelled backward! We have paid a small fortune putting in a year round water system with 99.8% purity. Because someone pissed off Coast Garibaldi 'Septic Cindy' we are on boil alert until the UV system is completed. In 1996 the GVRD (our regional district) said they would install UV treatment (voluntary, not required); nothing to date. Funny they don't even test the water on the 'reserve' next door nor the 'pure spring' bottling company next to them. Cheers to tap water. PS Love your new picture!

There, now I've joined you in our favourite beverage! Speaking of which brings me to my worst example of bottled water. One of my ex-competitors advertises the use of bottled water for their u-brew. Not only the stupidity of bottled water but the lack of a clear concept of brewing and fermenting processes. Grrrr!

  16. What next? Landscapers offering bottled water to irrigate your lawn?
