Xerox Is Not A Verb

The typewriter-written letter, dated August 2, 1979, is directed to a mis-gendered "Mr. Michiko Kakutani" in response to an article in which Xerox's name is used as a verb.

  1. Maggie Lovaas is logically speaking correct. However, the laws of linguistics say that if something like the verb "xeroxed" comes into common use, then xeroxed it is. There are plenty of similar constructs in both English and other languages. ML should have been proud of her company's name also being used as a verb.
