When Panda-monium Reigned In Washington



When President Nixon returned from his historic visit to China in 1972 he brought Ling-Ling and Hsing-Hsing to Washington’s National Zoo. The  two giant pandas were exchanged for two musk oxen from the zoo, in a move that might have risked appearing a little passive aggressive: “The oxen are suffering from a skin disease and so have not yet been put on display in Peking,” reported The Times.
