The Evolution Of Barbie

Tumblr user tenaflyviper compiled this collection pictures of Barbie's face to show the doll's evolution over the past 56 years.

Unlike all these blondes, the one and only Barbie I ever had was a dark haired vixen in a green shantung dress. My nana bought her for me and knitted a whole (uncool) wardrobe for her out of yarn scraps.

  1. I had a Midge. I remember the hair flip and the freckles.

  2. My sisters each had a Midge. As a recall they weren't happy about that.

  4. I had a Barbie! For Christmas of '63, my apartment-mates at college went to SEARS and bought me a plastic model hot rod roadster. They figured I needed a girl with the car so they stuck a Barbie('64 model with pony tail) in the car. At the cash register the girl said they were separate items, but Doc from P'town MA, charmed her into just charging for the car. So basically it was a stolen Barbie, kidnapped Barbie, but that was just the beginning. Oh the things that she witnessed in that apartment, puts Patty Hearst to shame. Ha Ha

  5. Most tales of a misspent youth don't include Barbie.

  6. Now that you mention it, I wasn't over the moon about my Midge, either. I never knew why I didn't rate a Barbie. Pitiful, eh?
