The Lost Motels of Toronto

During the golden age of the automobile North Americans took to the road on family vacations, spending nights at roadside motels that dotted highways across the US and Canada. Toronto had its share of these modest lodgings. Two areas in particular were hotbeds for motels: Kingston Rd. in the east end of the city and Lakeshore Rd. to the west. The last of the Lake Shore motels were demolished in 2012 to make way for condos along the western waterfront.

If you're feeling nostalgic for those good old days check out BlogTO's  collection of these vintage accommodations, some of which I remember from my early years in Toronto.
