Giant Marilyn Unveiled In Chicago

UPI/Brian Kersey
Hip hop artist Sergio Rockstar leaps up under 'Forever Marilyn', a sculpture by Seward Johnson, on July 15, 2011 at Pioneer Plaza in Chicago. Inspired by Marilyn Monroe's iconic pose from the 1955 movie 'Seven Year Itch', the stainless steel and aluminum sculpture stands 26 feet tall and weighs 34,000 pounds and will be on display through the spring of 2012.

  1. So is her propensity for standing over subway air-vents anything to do with that itch?
Might her pharmacy have an over-the-counter gel that's more effective?

All joking aside, what's this about? A three-dimensional statue of a long dead movie star sex-symbol? But why?
Nope. I just don't get it at all.

I bet John Varley is loving this. His Marilyn was about twice as tall, though.

  5. That's not a statue. That's Sergio Rockstar and it looks like he's doing something rude.
