A Short History of the Campsite: Places: Design Observer

Let me start by saying I don't get camping. Sleeping on the ground in a bag in a tiny tent? Cooking bad food under primitive conditions? Having to use a communal toilet and needing a flashlight to get there at night? Insects, bad weather? Listening to your overweight, tattooed neighbours make sounds that should only be made (if at all) behind deadbolted doors in the privacy of one's home? The few camping trips I've experienced have ended in disaster. It's just not for me.
But I did enjoy reading Martin Hogue's History of the Campsite at Design Observer. The pictures were swell too.

  2. Thanks for the kind words. It's a little bit of a dog's breakfast, isn't it?
