I live in the centre of town but my back garden is a haven for raccoons, chipmunks, skunks, rabbits and groundhogs that eat my vegetables. Perhaps I need a shishi-odoshi or “deer scarer", a Japanese-style fountain consisting of a bamboo branch that fills with water until it tips. It makes a soft sound that will chase away nuisance wildlife.
