Music Recorded Using Renaissance Notation Knives


These sixteenth-century knives have musical notations on each side of their blades. Each knife represents one part for a singer; one side contains a statement of grace, and the other a benediction to be sung at the end of the meal. A complete set of knives come together to create a harmonious chorus.
The Royal College of Music actually recorded the music from the notation knives at the Victoria and Albert Museum. Learn more about the knives and listen listen to the beautiful polyphonic music:
