€2 to see Rome's 'mouth of truth'? That's no lie

Legend says that if you are a liar and place your hand inside Rome’s Bocca della Verità, a marble face known as the mouth of truth, you’ll lose some fingers. In Roman Holiday Gregory Peck and Audrey Hepburn got to check their veracity for free back in 1953.



Now it will cost you more than your fingers.  The church of Santa Maria in Cosmedin, has started to charge tourists €2  for access to its statue and one photograph.
