Paper Peep Shows


Paper peep shows were layered dioramas that expanded like an accordion to create the illusion of depth. They were the virtual reality of the Victorian era allowing the public to see such scenes as the completion of the Thames Tunnel, the Great Exhibition of 1851, masquerade balls and theatrical stage sets in 3D.
