This Little Pig Music Box Played For Titanic Survivors Waiting for Rescue

Image: National Maritime Museum

When the Titanic sank, it took with it over 1,500 people along with gold, jewelry, chandeliers and expensive accouterments. But some people and objects did manage to escape, including a small musical pig  that belonged to Edith Rosenbaum, a 32-year-old American woman who had become successful in the fashion world.

Those on Lifeboat 11 listened to the little music box while the Titanic sunk. The song it played was “La Sorella” composed in 1905 by Charles Borel-Clerq.
