Bialy is a Yiddish word short for "bialystoker kuchen from Bialystok". A bialy is kind of like a bagel only unboiled and without a hole in the middle. The best place to try one is Kossar’s Bakery which has been baking bialys on Grand Street in New York City’s Lower East Side for 80 years.
