In 1970, Hunter Thompson ran for sheriff of Pitkin County, Colorado, on a Freak Power ticket, His platform promised to sod the streets, legalize marijuana, ban hunting and fishing to all non-residents, disarm the sheriff department's deputies, put dishonest drug dealers in stocks, and change Aspen's name to "Fat City."
