Butler Flats Light is located in the New Bedford Channel at the mouth of the Acushnet River, New Bedford, Bristol County, MA. The Light was constructed in 1898 and is listed on the National Register Of Historic Places.  It included living quarters for a staff of seven, who maintained the light and its associated fog signal. The station was automated in 1978. It is a "sparkplug-style" tower of brick and cast iron structure. There are four levels including two  watch decks, a basement and three floors with 15-foot head clearance.
