Julia Child's Cooked Up Shark Repellent When She Worked at the CIA

Julia Child worked for CIA? I did not know that. But she was not whipping up batches of beef bourguignon and coq au vin while she was there. Instead she was making shark repellent cake out of copper and dye to calm fears of shark attacks as the ocean became more and more of a wartime front. The recipe proved to be ineffective at keeping man-eating sharks at bay but people wanted it and they were damn well getting it. It took more than 25 years before the product was finally discontinued.
