Inspired by his own childhood in the UK, James Mollison set out to study how children play, gossip, and compete around the world. He photographed children at play in schoolyards in Argentina, Bhutan, Bolivia, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Nepal, Norway, Sierra Leone, the United Kingdom, and the US. The
Playground series is the product of these travels.
