Canadian behind 'Jesus toast' study wins whimsical science prize

The Ig Nobel prizes, meant to entertain and encourage global research and innovation, are awarded by Annals of Improbable Research as a whimsical counterpart to the Nobel Prizes which will be announced next month.

Professor Kang Lee at the University of Toronto was part of a Canada-China team that won for studying the reactions of people who see human faces in slices of toast.
Although the title of the study was called “Seeing Jesus in Toast,” no actual images of Jesus were shown. But the study found that “sensory input with even the slightest suggestion of a face can result in the interpretation of a face.”
