Is a smell as good as a taste? Le Whaf, invented by French scientist and Harvard professor David Edwards, boils ingredients into a liquid, strains, then pours it into a glass cauldron. The liquid is turned into a cloud which is ingested through a straw. It is popular with dieters in Europe because inhaling the air can provide taste without calories.
